Xiaoshu Health Recipe: Remember 1 Not To Sleep And 2 Not To Eat To Spend The Summer Refreshingly
In an unnoticeable and silent way, the slight summer heat in the solar terms is slowly coming. There is an old saying that goes, "The sudden arrival of warm winds is followed by the onset of minor summer heat." Once the minor summer heat has passed, the weather seems to have changed into a completely different look. The temperature continues to rise, the air is hot and humid, and thunderstorms often occur. Many people think that the minor summer heat is not as hot as the major summer heat. In fact, it is the "prelude" to the hot summer, followed immediately by the most unbearable dog days of the year. The old saying "steaming at the top and boiling at the bottom" is absolutely correct. If people stay in such a hot and humid environment for a long time, they will easily become listless, lose their appetite, and even become upset and irritable. The elderly here are very particular about it. They often say that during the Xiaoshu solar term, we should do "1 not to sleep, 2 not to eat, 3 not to do anything, and 4 to eat". Only by adjusting our living habits and diet according to the season can we spend the summer peacefully. Let’s talk about these tips together today so that you can easily cope with the coming hot weather.

1. Don’t sleep in: don’t sleep in, get up early and bask in the sun

In the summer, many people like to sleep in. It is cool in the air-conditioned room. After closing the blackout curtains, you can sleep until ninety o'clock, which will feel much more comfortable than going out. However, I need to remind everyone here to try not to sleep in in the summer, otherwise you will not be energetic all day long. It will be around five or six in the morning. When menstruation comes, get up early and go out for a walk for more than ten minutes before the sun becomes too hot to bask in the sun. This will allow the yang energy in the body to naturally arise. If the yang energy is sufficient, you will be energetic throughout the day and your work efficiency will be very high. On the other hand, if you sleep until the sun is up, the yang energy will not have a chance to rise, but you will feel dizzy and the more you sleep, the more tired you will be. So after the mild summer heat, you might as well set the alarm clock earlier and develop a good habit of getting up early.

2. Don’t eat: Avoid hot and cold foods.

The first type is hot food. The temperature is very high before and after Minor Heat, and people are already prone to getting angry. At this time, eating hot food such as barbecue, spicy hot pot, and fried food is like "adding fuel to the fire." The mouth feels satisfied, but the throat begins to hurt, acne appears on the face, and even constipation occurs. The second type is cold food. Once the weather gets hot, people instinctively want to cool down. Ice watermelon, ice cream, iced drinks, and cold dishes have become favorites. But when the weather gets hotter, these frozen foods need to be eaten less. In summer, the pores of the human body open, Yang Qi floats on the body surface, and the spleen and stomach are relatively in a state of deficiency and coldness. The act of eating a lot of ice will cause the cold air to invade the intestines and stomach, which can easily cause diarrhea and stomach pain, and will also cause moisture to remain in the body. If you want to eat fruit, you need to take it out of the refrigerator and leave it for half an hour before eating; if you want to drink water, drinking warm water is the most nourishing.

3. Don’t do: strenuous exercise, rapid cooling, losing temper

Vigorous exercise is the first thing not to do. When the dog days are approaching, you will sweat a lot. If you go running or playing ball and sweat profusely, especially practicing under the sun at noon, it will deplete the body's yang energy. You can choose gentle exercises such as slow walking, Tai Chi, and Baduanjin, and do them in the early morning or evening when it is cooler. Cooling down quickly is the second thing. It’s so hot outside that you’re sweating profusely. As soon as you get home, you immediately take a cold shower, blast the air conditioner, and drink ice-cold Coke. This stimulation of cold and hot is the easiest way to catch a cold. The first method is to wipe off the sweat with a dry towel, wait for half an hour, and wait for the body to cool down naturally before taking a shower. The third thing is to lose your temper at will. It is mentioned in traditional health preservation that "the heart is connected with the summer energy". In the summer, the heart fire is easy to be strong, and people tend to get angry easily. Losing your temper not only hurts the liver, but also speeds up the heartbeat and raises blood pressure. If you feel irritable, take a few deep breaths, listen to music, or take a walk to calm down your mood.

4. Eat: high-quality protein, vitamin C, potassium, calcium

When the temperature is high during Xiaoshu, the body's metabolism is vigorous, and nutrient consumption is much greater than usual. The first category requires eating more high-quality protein, such as fish, chicken, eggs, milk and soy products. Recommend a dish of stir-fried chicken legs with chili: Prepare 2 chicken legs, remove the bones and cut them into small pieces, add cooking wine, light soy sauce, and cornstarch and marinate for 30 minutes; prepare 1 green and red chili pepper, cut them into pieces, and set aside minced garlic. Add oil to a hot pan, sauté the minced garlic until fragrant, add chicken thighs and stir-fry until golden brown, then add chili and stir-fry over high heat for 3 minutes, add light soy sauce and oyster sauce for seasoning. The second category is vitamin C. Sweating can take away a lot of water-soluble vitamins. Go try Sauteed Zucchini with Tomatoes: Cut the tomatoes into chunks and cut the zucchini into slices. Fry the minced garlic in the oil pan until the aroma is overflowing. First add the tomatoes and stir-fry the juice, then add the zucchini and stir-fry over high heat for 3 minutes. Add salt and chicken essence and remove from the pan. The third category is potassium. A lack of potassium will cause a person to lose all strength. Make a stir-fried rapeseed with mushrooms: Break up and wash the rapeseed, and cut the fresh mushrooms into slices. After the minced garlic is sautéed, add the mushrooms and stir-fry until soft. Then add the rapeseed and stir-fry quickly over high heat. Add the oyster sauce and stir-fry evenly. By the way, the fourth category is calcium. Calcium lost through sweat needs to be replenished in time. There is a milk-apple oatmeal porridge recommended for breakfast: it contains 1 box of milk, 50 grams of quick-cooking oats, and 1 apple cut into pieces. First add a little water and cook the oats until they are soft, then put them in a bowl, pour in the milk, add the apple chunks and stir evenly, then you can eat it, it is simple and nutritious.

The Xiaoshu solar term plays a key role in the whole summer to carry on the above and lead to the following. Remember "1. Do not lie in bed and sleep in to protect Yang Qi, 2. Do not eat hot and cold foods to protect the spleen and stomach, 3. Do not engage in strenuous exercise, do not lower body temperature quickly, and do not lose your temper at will to protect the body and mind. 4. Eat these four things to supplement protein, vitamin C, potassium and calcium, and adjust your life rhythm according to seasonal changes. You will find that summer is actually not that unbearable. Before the heat reaches its hottest stage, gradually develop these little habits so that you and your family can spend the whole summer safely and healthily.
